Presidential Election 2012

Right, so with the election having come and gone, and the merry-go-round of life accelerating faster and faster, I did want to circle back to a few choice things I found post election.  This seemed like the ideal place to put them, as they are already a little aged for FB ...

Bill O'Reilly, explaining why people voted for Obama:
"Obama's voters wanted stuff..."
James Carville, commenting on Bill O'Reilly's comment:
"Right, oil companies don't want stuff.  Millionaires don't want stuff ... cmon!"
Karen Hughes (George W. Bush's former aide) in Politico:
"If another Republican man says anything about rape other that it is a horrific, violent crime, I want to personally cut out his tongue."
Bill Maher:
"All the Republican men who talked about lady parts during the campaign, they all lost."
Maureen Dowd:
"Romney was still running in an illusory country where husbands told wives how to vote, and the wives who worked had better get home in time to cook dinner. But in the real country, many wives were urging husbands not to vote for a Brylcreemed boss out of a ’50s boardroom whose party was helping to revive a 50-year-old debate over contraception."
Megyn Kelly to Karl Rove on Fox News on election night:
"Is this just math that you do as a Republican to make yourself feel better?"
Bill Maher:
"Live in the bubble, die in the bubble"

Zen View on Voting and Democracy

From singer/songwriter extraordinaire, and Counting Crows Frontman
Adam Duritz,
comes this "Zen view on voting and democracy:"

"People will tell you this is a divided country these days
I would tell you that doesn't matter at all.
A democracy isn't a country where people get together to agree on something.
The idea of a democracy is that we get together to disagree and still make a decision as a nation.
If you show up on election day and cast your ballot,
you and I have the only thing in common that 2 Americans ever need to have in common.
We got up off our asses, we showed up and took part in our country.
I don't give a fuck who you vote for.
Just show up and take part.

America is a nation based on the idea that we should take part.
So we must take part.
There's no such thing as division.
If we make a decision together that is the correct decision.

That's all I gotta say ..."

Dare You To Move

This one is dedicated to anyone who:
  • Has a teenager they're trying to get off the internet, x-box, tumbler, etc and to a bizarre place known as "outside" ...
  • Might be looking for a great tune to add to their workout playlist
  • Is interested in finding a great band
"Maybe redemption has stories to tell
Maybe forgiveness is
right where you fell ..."
