What is this RSS thing anyway?!

RSS is a very useful feature on the web, and although it's been around a while, has only gained popularity lately. Getting my head above water the last couple days, I wanted a simple explanation of what it was, and how to use it.

I'll talk about the irony of blogs and RSS -- all the "rage" lately, and something called PointCast and the good 'ole web in another post. But re: RSS, here's what I found:

No Line on the Horizon - New Release from U2

Ladies and Gentleman,

Mark your calendars; specifically, Monday, March 2nd. The following comes from the U2 website:

18.12.2008'

No Line on the Horizon'No Line On The Horizon, the new studio album from U2, will be released on Monday 2nd March 2009.

Written and recorded in various locations, No Line On The Horizon is the group’s 12th studio album and is their first release since the 9 million selling album How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb, released in late 2004.

Sessions for No Line On The Horizon began last year in Fez, Morocco, continued in the band’s own studio in Dublin, before moving to New York’s Platinum Sound Recording Studios, and finally being completed at Olympic Studios in London.

The album calls on the production talents of long-time collaborators Brian Eno and Danny Lanois, with additional production by Steve Lillywhite.

So it's time to let the boss know -- you're going to miss some time in 09! Time to start scouring the boards for tour dates ... fire up the browser, drag out the cooler, find those comfy shoes -- the boys are a comin' mama!

Following in the footsteps ... Mandy has taken up Karate. It's a Japanese style taught by her very own school teacher. She's really pumped about it. After her first class, mom asked "what did you learn?"

Amanda replied, "she taught us how to punch." She thought about it for a moment and then added, "and I know how to block."

Mom asked, "they taught you that too?"

Amanda replied, "nahh, Dad showed me that!"

There were so many great pix from the weekend, but it's hard for me not to call this the best of the bunch, in the category of "solo." This is a hard slider that starts high and then dives to the outside corner for a called strike 3 ... sometime in the future ...

Reminds me of Miami Vice!

There's a great shot of these 2 giving some high tens in the air, and that will make it on here soon ... but I have a particluar attraction to this one. It has a stronger aura of "coolness" to it as they are carrying themselves so similarly, and clearly so engaged ... what a day!

Maiden Voyage

So from Picassa, the awesome Google tool to manage pictures, I've created a blog. Mostly, seeing as how I have no time to type in here, to post pictures to. The URL was to be ATYCLB or allthatyoucantleavebehind ... but predictably, those were taken. So, as the singer sings, it's perhaps an even better "youvegottoleaveitbehind" ... which is late in the song, and typically closes the show. So just to type it gives me chills, and probably my older brother as well.

So for today, I'll just say "hello world" as the developer who writes his first windows dialogue might ... point everyone to www.beoutrageous.com a great website ... tell you to go rent The Ground Truth somewhere (and visit www.thegroundtruth.net) and perhaps shoot up a picture or 2 if I can pull that off.

Les, your pictures will print this weekend and ship, along with the disc, on Monday. Janet, I'd feel guilty if I didn't print you pictures to send along with the disc, so if you bug me, I'll commit to next weekend on that. Dad, you've got enough coasters, so no disc for you :-)

Now if you'll excuse me, Amanda has a big Halloween party to get ready for, and that means Dad has some "bloody banners" to hang, an obstacle course (don't ask) to set up, scary music playlist to create, and of course, dog hair on the patio to vaccuum!
